This was the 1st brand new van, the sale of the last one covered the van price, i speked quite a few extras, but i just couldn’t see why i would need a 4motion i mean i arnt going to be taking a $120k van off rd and it was another $6k, I did get the engine upgrade to the Bi turbo 200hp its a rocket ship.

This was built similar but with 200Ah Lithium batteries, i modified the cupboards to make getting toilet out easier, i had got a bit smarter with electrics so i had a nice control panel, with monitored tanks this time.
I had just discovered the Foli bed from Austops, this was a game changer for sleeping in the pop top, Soooo comfortable.
The van turned out to be very capable on the gravel roads around Central Otago, we ended up on the Old Dunstan Rd, past Poolburn dam we got to one point and thought were not going to get up there but it did! pretty impressive. HOWEVER getting a bit too Close to lake Ohau had us bogged in the pea gravel on the lake shore, after much unsuccessful digging we had to get towed out, so that was it off to the VW dealer to order a 4 motion……
